Error code 0x800703ed indicates that there is an error between the SD card and your phone. You will get this when you’re trying to install build 10.0.14926.1000 on your Windows Mobile device, and you won’t be able to install the update.
This happens for a number of users, and is part of the number of bugs that come with the 10.0.14926.1000 build. This is a fast ring build, meaning that such bugs are to be expected and if you’re in the fast ring, you should get used to them. A number of users have recommended that this update is skipped completely, and you wait for the next build instead. However, there are a lot of users who don’t want to wait, and need this update but can’t install it due to the 0x800703ed error.
However, given that the error is actually with the SD card on your phone, there is a solution that will allow you to install the update if you’re that enthusiastic about getting it.
Install the update without an SD card
The SD card on your phone isn’t really a necessity when installing updates, and has been known to cause bugs and errors in more than one build of the Windows 10 Mobile operating system. To install this update, do the following:
- Soft reset the phone. Do this by holding the Volume down and Power buttons at the same time, until you feel a vibration. That shouldn’t take longer than 10 to 15 seconds. Note that you shouldn’t touch the device screen at any time.
- When your device turns on, go to Settings, then System and finally
- Tap the SD Card, scroll down and tap Remove. If you get a prompt that your files won’t be available until you plug the card back in, tap Yes, I’m sure. You can now physically remove the SD card.
- Go to the Settings menu again, and open Update & Security.
- Open Phone update, and tap Check for updates. Your phone should now be able to download the 0.14926.1000 update.
