How To Root Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300) On Android 4.3 Jelly Bean

Android 4.3 is the last iteration of Android Jelly Bean. If you were rooted on earlier versions of Android and updated to 4.3, then your phone must have been unrooted. There are two methods in this guide to assist you root your phone. One requires you to use a PC and another doesn’t require you to use one.

Method 1: Rooting with Towelroot

1. Go to https://towelroot.com and click on the red lambda (ƛ) sign to download the towelroot apk.

2. Install the app by tapping the Completed Download notification or opening it from your device’s Downloads folder. Enable “Unknown Sources” Settings > Security if your install has been blocked.

3. Open Towelroot app and tap “make it ra1n”. You will be notified when the root is complete. If your phone reboots, it means the rooting failed.

4. Head over to the Play Store and install SuperSU to manage the su binary.

Method 2: Rooting with PC

Before you proceed with this step, make sure you have the following files downloaded or installed your Windows PC.

• CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.zip
• Odin 3.07
• Samsung Drivers installed on your PC

1. Boot your Samsung Galaxy S3 into Download Mode by pressing the Volume Down + Home + Power buttons while the phone is off. When you see a warning screen, press the Volume Up button to continue.

2. Open Odin 3.07 and connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable. Once Odin detects the phone, the ID:COM section will be highlighted and “Added” will be displayed in the message box.

3. Click on the PDA/AP button and select the CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.zip file using the file picker. Make sure only the Auto Reboot and Reset Time checkboxes are checked and everything else unchecked.

4. Click on the Start button and wait for application to flash the root files to the phone. A PASS message will be displayed and the device will reboot when the rooting is successful.
