Mac OS Sierra comes with Mail as standard. Once you have set up your mail client with your email address, you will be able to receive and send mail. Some users may be unfamiliar with how their Outbox works, and how to delete emails from this mailbox.
The Outbox is different to the Sent folder in that it contains emails which were not able to send. These emails might not have sent as a result of a lack of Internet connection, or a problem with the email address entered into the recipient box.
If you intend to delete the mail in this folder, simply follow the instructions in Method 1.
Deleting from Your Outbox
- On your dock, locate the postage stamp icon, which represents Apple Mail. Click the icon and wait for the windows to open.

- Once Mail is opened, you should see a button for ‘Mailboxes’ on the top left. Click it and it will open up a list of options on the left. The top option is Inbox, which is followed by Flagged, Drafts, Outbox, Sent and Trash. To remove items from your outbox, start by clicking Outbox.

- After clicking Outbox, you should be presented with a list of emails that are stuck in your outbox. If you want to delete them, simply click an item of mail until it’s highlighted and press the Delete key on your keyboard.
- If you want to delete more than one piece of mail, highlight one piece of mail, hold down the Cmd key on your keyboard, and highlight all the other pieces of mail you would also like to delete. Then, press the Delete key on your keyboard to remove them.
