Are you a fan of the old Fleksy keyboard look? The now abandoned keyboard style is making a big comeback via Gboard. One developer from the XDA community managed to achieve the old-school Fleksy look while maintaining all the awesome features from Gboard. What’s even nicer is that you don’t need root access or other higher privileges, it’s all done via a built-in feature of Gboard.
Follow the steps down below to install Fleksy skin on Gboard.
- Access this link with your Android device and download your favorite Fleksy skin from the list.
- Open Gboard and expand the Settings
- Tap on Theme, select Custom and select the skin you’ve just downloaded.
- It’s very important that you pinch the selecting rectangle so that the entire image fills it. If you don’t do it, you’ll get some ugly looking edges.
- Move the brightness slider close to the maximum for an immersive result.
- Make sure you use a normal keyboard height. Depending on your Android device, you may need to resize it for the Fleksy skin to fit.
Tip: For an even better result, turn off number row and key borders since they waste a lot of space anyway.
Depending on your preferences, you should end up with a result similar to this:
