Razer Synapse is a cloud based driver software that allows you to rebind controls or assign macros to any of your Razer peripherals and saves all your settings to the cloud. Some Windows users who have Synapse installed have noticed really high CPU usage associated with the software.
This issue comes as a result of certain applications like the Razer SDK installed on the computer, and for some other users the port in which the Razer headset was connected in. We’ll find out in this article how to address this issues and reduce Synapse’s CPU time consumption.
Method 1: Remove Microsoft XNA Redistributable
Microsoft XNA Framework Redistributable provides developers with the XNA framework they can include in their products. This application takes a lot of CPU load and causes Synapse to have a high CPU usage. Remove this application by following these steps.
- Press the Windows Key + R, appwiz.cpl and then press Enter.
- Locate Microsoft XNA Framework Redistributable in the list of installed applications.
- Select each instance and then click Uninstall.
- Reboot your PC and monitor Synapse to see if the CPU usage has reduced.
Method 2: Removing Razer SDK
Razer installs Synapse with its SDK. If you don’t plan programming with the SDK, remove it and Synapse will still work fine without it. Here’s how to get it done.
- Press the Windows Key + R, appwiz.cpl and then press Enter.
- Locate Razer SDK in the list of installed applications. Select the entry and then click Uninstall.
- Reboot your PC and monitor Synapse to see if the CPU usage has reduced.
Method 3: Switch USB Ports
If you have any Razer products, especially the headset connect to your USB port, remove it and insert it into another port. You can also try reinserting the headset.
