Newer versions of Android come with many performance upgrades and improvements. They also provide better stability and bring many bug fixes with them. However, many things can go wrong during these updates due to which the Android device might even get bricked permanently. There have been many reports where the Android Software fails to load after an update on Samsung Devices. Sometimes the Device loads into the older software while in some cases, it doesn’t even load. Most of the time, an error is returned when the device fails to load such as ‘[filename] is not correct’, Installation aborted etc.

Update Installation Failed error

What Prevents OS From Updating Properly on Samsung Devices?

After receiving numerous reports from multiple users we decided to investigate the issue and formed together a list of solutions which solved the issue for most of our users. Also, we looked into the reasons due to which the error is triggered and listed them as follows:

  • Settings: If one or more than one setting on your device has not been configured properly it might interfere with important features that are elemental during the update process.
  • Corrupt Software: It is also possible that important files are missing from the Update that you downloaded due to which the process was not completed. Trying to update the Android with incomplete software can result in many complications while updating or even after the updating process is completed.
  • Bluetooth: In some cases, it was reported that the Bluetooth function was interfering with important system functions due to which the update was not being installed properly.

NOTE: If the phone doesn’t start after the update and is stuck in a boot loop or on the logo screen you should skip to “Solution 3” of the article. However, if it does boot up but boots into the older Software and displays the message “Update Failed” then try Solution 1 and 2.
