BEST GUIDE: How to Resize C or Any Other Partition

Shrinking volumes and adding the freed up space to your boot drive can be a dangerous task if proper care is not taken. Are you trying to shrink a drive on your computer to ensure extra space on your C: drive? Are you afraid of losing data? Then you have come to the right place. We will be sharing a complete guide that is error-free and guarantees results.

BEFORE you proceed with the steps listed below; make sure you take a full and a complete back up of your drive or any/all important data.

First of all, you will be downloading a tool named “MiniTool Partition Wizard (Free Edition)” by visiting this link.

Once downloaded, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Once installed, run the application.

An overview of the hard disk should now appear. Now, move the cursor to the drive that you want to shrink, right click on it and select “Move/Resize

From the window that appears, you can drag the bar under “Size and Location” to the left to shrink the drive to the desired size. Alternatively, you can also use the text fields present below to do the same. Once done, click on “OK”.

Now you should see a new chunk of space appear next to your local drives. It should say “Unallocated space

If you want to shrink multiple drives then you can repeat the steps 4 to 6.

Once you have enough unallocated space, hover over the C: drive, right click on it and select “Move/Resize

Drag the bar this time to the right until you have the desired amount of space on your C: drive. Once again, the text fields can also be used for this purpose.

Once you are done, click on the “Apply” button on the top left hand corner of the window.

If asked to confirm to restart, say “Yes”.

This might take some time to complete and your computer might restart during the process. Once done, select “OK”.

Your C:\ drive should now be resized to the desired size without the loss of any data!
