Ever since Windows 10 was released it’s been overrun with a number of issues. Which is understandable since every software or operating system seems to be a work in progress nowadays.

In this article we will be discussing how to fix the black screen that appears after boot screen. You can identify this problem by looking at what you see on the screen. If you see a black screen with just the mouse logo you are likely to have this issue.

The following are three methods you can use to tackle this problem:

Method 1 – Turn off Fast Startup

Window 10 is released with a Fast Startup feature. As the name suggests, it allows a fast booting of the operating system so you can resume your work or play quickly.

NOTE: The Fast Start-up feature only works when you perform a Shutdown and then Turn On your system, it doesn’t apply when you perform a Restart.

To turn off fast start-up option; follow these steps

1. Boot using your Windows 10 Installation Media. You may need to change the boot order from bios.

4. Click on Advanced options

5. Click on Startup Settings

6. Click on Restart

7. Select Safe mode with Networking

8. When the PC starts Go to Control panel;

9. Select Power Options; and Select Choose What the Power Buttons Do to your left.

Here, scroll down and find the Fast Startup option and uncheck it.

Method 2 – Update drivers

If the problem persists you will have to boot from your Windows 10 Installation Media.

Refer to the steps below:

1. When you boot select language, and click Next

2. Click Repair your Computer at the bottom

3. Click on Troubleshoot

4. Click on Advanced options

5. Click on Startup Settings

6. Click on Restart

7. Select Safe mode with Networking

The best way to go about updating your drivers is to Restart your computer in Safe Mode with Networking. Now, update the video driver; however it is highly recommended that you Uninstall the video driver and Re-install it.
