Released in early 2016, Microsoft Lumia is a decent midrange smartphone solution that has a 5MP front camera, 8MP back camera, and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 running at 1.3 GHz. A 2000 mAh battery gives it a good supply of power between recharges and the 1 GB of RAM is more than enough for the daily surfing and IM needs. However, what Lumia lacks is the ability to change the ringtone on the spot.
Normally, the Lumia 650 and other phones running Windows mobile OS do not allow for an easy change to the ringtones. To do so in just a few minutes, follow the steps below.
Use a ringtone created through the official Windows Ringtone Maker
The following solution requires a Microsoft account and an internet connection. Tap the Windows Store tile. Open up the “Store Search” by tapping the magnifier icon at the bottom of the screen. Type in “ringtone maker”.
Find the Ringtone Maker, owned by Microsoft Mobile.
Tap “Install”. Once the installation finishes, tap “View” and open the Ringtone Maker.
Tap the “Pick a song” option.
The app will present all MP3 songs found in the phone and ask you to choose one.
Do so and the ringtone editor will open. By sliding the orange floaters on the bar, you can choose the exact part of the song you want to hear in a ringtone.
The next dialog will ask you if you want to immediately make the saved audio file your ringtone. If you want to do so, check the box “Make this my ringtone”. Otherwise, tap the checkmark icon below.
To set a ringtone, exit the Ringtone Maker and tap the Settings tile. Under Personalization, tap the Ringtones+Sounds option, tap the Ringtone box and select the ringtone from the custom section.
