OneDrive is too disturbing from user perspective if attached to the file explorer. Considering the fact that a cloud space is a new thing, users are not really fond of it as such and might not need it as frequently as it is shown in file explorer. Hence, people usually want to get rid of the OneDrive prominence.

No rocket science is needed to detach it from file explorer menus. It is a simple step by step two-minute procedure that requires no extra knowledge or skill.

Set System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree in registry to null

Open the Run dialog box. This can be done in two ways. Either hit the Start button at the extreme left of taskbar. Once it opens, type run in search box. Click on the first program it shows. Otherwise, just press Windows R and it will open the Run dialog box.

Once the run dialog box opens, type Regedit.exe and hit Enter (you can also click OK). This will open Registry Editor that will allow you to edit the registry. Now that you are in the file, search for registry with key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{018D5C66-4533-4307-9B53-224DE2ED1FE6}. Click on it and it will show you two or three items in the column on the right. One of these items will be named System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree. Double click on this item and change its value to 0 in the dialog box that will open and click OK.

Close the file explorer window(s) currently open and launch another one. You will not see OneDrive in the menu anymore.
