There are certain situations where on downloading a third-party program, users of Windows have complained that their keyboards stopped working. This issue could be because of inherent bugs in the program that may have changed the keyboard settings of the Windows, or it could also be that the keyboard driver is damaged and may need to be reinstalled.
Fortunately, this isn’t a very uncommon issue and is easily fixable. And if you follow the steps showcased in this article, your keyboard will be up and running in a jiffy.
Method 1: Adjust keyboard settings
- Click on the SEARCH button at the bottom of the programs bar and type Control Panel. Select the option.
- You’ll be directed to a new page where all the functions of the Control Panel will be listed. Choose Ease of Access.
- Under the Ease of Access Center option, select Change how your keyboard works.
- As you scroll down, make sure the Turn off Filter Keys is clear. Once done, click
Method 2: Reinstall drivers of the keyboard
- Right click on Start button and choose Device Manager
- Expand the Keyboard option and right click on Standard PS/2 Keyboard and choose Uninstall.
- When prompted to confirm Uninstallation process, choose
- Restart your computer once the Keyboard driver has been uninstalled.
Once your computer has restarted, Windows will help you reinstall the keyboard driver.
