Fix: r5apex.exe Game Crash in Apex Legends

Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. Set in the Titanfall universe, squads of three compete for the title of Champion on a map called Kings Canyon. It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on February 4, 2019, without any prior announcement or marketing.

r5apex.exe – Application Error

Solution 1: Repair Easy Anti-Cheat Service

The Anti-Cheat Service used by the game to prevent cheaters and hackers scans your system for any third party software that interferes with the game. Sometimes it might be facing broken files, so an easy step like repairing your “Easy Anti-Cheat Service” can fix the problem for you. For which follow the steps below:

  1. Go to your game folder in your drive you have installed it in:
    PC>Local Drive>Program Files>Origin>Apex>EasyAntiCheat
    
  1. And find the folder named “EasyAntiCheat” in your game folder and go inside that.
  2. You will see the file “EasyAntiCheat_setup.exe“, open that.
  3. Click “Repair Service” Which will be like this

Solution 2: Repair game in Origin Library

The possibility of missing or corrupt files for a game is high, in which case the game can crash because of certain files not there to make it run. And this quick method can help you out for fixing the problem. In this solution, you will be repairing or verifying the game files. In order to do this

  1. Open “Origin” and go to your “Library” where you will find your Apex legends game.
  2. Right click on your game and click “Repair” in the list.

Solution 3: Changing Compatibility of the Game

As this game is just out only a few months ago and is mostly compatible with Windows 10 because of Windows 10 having new updates so other operating system users like Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 might face this problem more as they are running on older versions. Here is a solution applied in Windows 8.1.

  1. Go to your game folder and open the properties of your game file “r5apex.exe“.
  2. In properties select compatibility tab and there you will do few changes.
  3. Tick the “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” and select “Windows 7” in it.
  4. Besides that also tick “Run this program as an administrator“, Press Apply and then OK.

Solution 4: Fixing your graphics settings

Sometimes if your graphics are up to date but you are still are not able to support or run the game well, then it’s certainly because of having low-end PC or GPU. This solution will minimize the graphics of the game so your pc can run the game without lag or getting crash. Here you will be editing the video config file of the game. To do that, follow these steps

  1. Open “Run” (by pressing “Win+R”)
  2. Type this in the dialogue box:

    Opening local folder through RUN
  3. A folder will open with three files in it, open “videoconfig.txt” as shown below:

  4. Then paste all the text in it: (from “VideoConfig” to “}” )

  5. Now Run the game and check it out.

This will fix it for you. If it makes the graphics worse because of this file (VideoConfig), just delete this file and Apex legends will create the default one again when you run the game.
