Android operating system has amazing capabilities, one of them is the ability to tether your phone’s internet connection to other phones or even PCs via Bluetooth,WiFi or USB. Usually, people tether their phone’s internet to connect other devices to the Mobile Hotspot which seems pretty easy with the options built into Android OS. However, at times you may want to do the reverse by allowing your Laptop/Computer to share it’s internet with your Android Device, technically referred as “Reverse Tethering“. To sum it up,

Reverse Tether is the usage of your PC or Laptop’s Internet sharing with your Android Device.
Before you continue, make sure that you have access to the following:
Android phone (rooted/non rooted).
Connectify software (get it here).
Laptop/Desktop with Windows 7 and above with a Wi-Fi Adapter
Install Connectify, and proceed with the instructions on screen. After it has been installed launch the app. Now, you will need to configure it which is very easy to do.
In SSID type the connection name you want to give, this will be the wi-fi network name that you will see on your Android. Give your network a password if you want to use a secured network. Now select from the connection you want to share. i.e. This is the adapter which has the internet. Select the Wi-Fi network using which you will connect your Android Phone.
Select encryption type and for this one you have a couple of options :
“Open” if you do not wish to use any password.
“WAP/WEP…etc.
Now switch on your Phone Wi-Fi. Click start Hotspot on connectify. Give the password when asked for on your phone, you’ll see the Hotspot in your list in the phone.
You are done, now you will see an active or inactive client in the connectify. No more steps, congrats! You have reverse tethered your connection to your Android phone.
