Root is the power-user, with full administrative rights. Rooting your device means, granting yourself uid=0 (the administrator access). Once you have it, you can Flash custom ROM, Custom recovery, and make use of the Xposed Modules to further enhance performance, look and features of your Android.
However, the drawback to rooting is that it will disable the OTA Updates, which means you will not be able to get updates automatically BUT you can always revert to the original firmware by searching and downloading it from here

Rooting Sony Xperia Z is an easy process and we will be using King Root to do this. To begin,
Go to Settings -> Security -> Unknown applications and place a check. Then using your phone download the King Root application from here, after downloading open the application and press on install, it will take some time to install but no worries, after the installation completes press on open and you should see an application interface like this one, click on try to root and wait for it to complete then download this application from here , install it and when it asks for permission give it, Now open the SuperSU application and update its binaries, be sure to press on Normal when it asks normal or TWRP / CWM
When done uninstall the king root application and reboot your phone, if after rebooting you find king root asking for permission deny it and uninstall it again.
Your phone then should be working and rooted, install Root Checker from the google play store to check if the rooting was completed successfully, if not let us know in the comments section below.
